Phone App · Android & iPhone
Your observatory, in your pocket.
The FREE Astro PM companion app for Android and iPhone. Check imaging systems, weather, and browse the user gallery!
Everything the desktop plans, everywhere you go.
Astro PM desktop is where projects are planned and the NINA plugin is where they are executed. The phone app is where you keep up with all of it. It reads from the same Astro PM cloud account, so there is nothing to enter twice and nothing to configure on the observatory PC – pair once and it stays in step with every project, all night.
Every rig, every target, live.
Open the app and your imaging systems are right there – each site, scope, and camera combination you set up on the desktop, with its active targets and how close each one is to done.
Tap into a rig and every target shows as a card: the framed target image from SkyView, its status (active, paused, or complete), and imaging progress per filter against the plan. Whether it is 2 a.m. and you want to know if the dome is still collecting, or you are at work wondering how last night went, the answer is a glance away.
The desktop pushes each project to your cloud account as you work, and the NINA plugin reports every accepted sub, so the phone always reflects the real state of the project.
Pause and resume NINA from anywhere.
A neighbor’s floodlight, a band of cloud the safety monitor didn’t catch, a satellite pass you’d rather sit out – sometimes you just need the sequence to hold for a while. NINA Control gives you a pause and resume button for every imaging system, right on your phone.
Tap Pause and the Astro PM plugin holds the sequencer at the next exposure boundary, so the sub in progress finishes cleanly and nothing is thrown away. Tap Resume and imaging picks up exactly where it left off. No remote desktop session, no VPN, no fumbling with a tiny NINA window on a phone screen.
It works through your Astro PM cloud account, so it works from the couch, the car, or another continent – the observatory PC never has to be exposed to the internet.
The night-sky forecast, in your pocket.
The same 16-day astronomical forecast that powers the desktop, for every observing site in your account. Cloud cover by deck, computed seeing and transparency, wind, dew risk, and one combined night-quality score – arranged noon to noon so each night sits whole in its own column.
Switch sites with a tap on the site chip, tap any hour for the numbers behind the colors, and pull to refresh. Because it is the same engine and the same scoring model, the forecast you check over lunch always agrees with the one on the observatory machine.
Read more about how the forecast is built on the Weather Forecast page.
The community gallery, always with you.
Browse the Astro PM user gallery from your phone – the latest images submitted by fellow Astro PM imagers, with the equipment and integration behind each one, and the current Image of the Week front and center.
Pick a community display name, then like and comment on the images that catch your eye. Notifications let you know when someone reacts to your own submissions, so the conversation about your work doesn’t stop when you leave the desk.
Submitting is done from the desktop, where the finished image and its project data live; the phone is where you keep up with everyone else’s.
Paired in seconds, synced all night.
No accounts to create and no ports to open. The app rides on the same Astro PM cloud account your desktop and NINA plugin already use.
1. Scan to Pair
Point the camera at the QR code shown in Astro PM on your desktop and you are paired. Prefer not to use the camera? Type the sync code instead. That is the only permission the app asks for.
2. The Cloud Does the Rest
Your desktop pushes projects and imaging systems to the Astro PM cloud; the NINA plugin reports progress as subs land. The phone reads from the cloud, so your observatory PC stays behind its firewall.
3. Free With Your License
Free on both stores, no subscription. The trial and every paid license include it. Requires Android 8.0 or newer, or an iPhone running iOS 15 or newer.
Get the app.
Search for Astro PM in your store, or tap a button below. The Android and iPhone versions are identical in features and layout.
