I continue to be amazed with the image quality I am able to get from the QHY MiniCam 8. My experience with astrophotography had been exclusively OSC with an EdgeHD 8 SCT. I love that scope and its still my primary imaging rig. However, my experience using the MiniCam 8 on a 102mm refractor has convinced me that mono images just end up looking better. I think my version of the Fish Head Nebula is an example of that truth. This was taken from my Bortle 6 Backyard as a target I threw into my nightly image plan to make the best use of the night, 25 hours later the final image has exceeded my expectations. In fact, my MiniCam 8 experience has convinced me to replace my trusty ZWO 2600 OSC with a ToupTek SyEye mono setup. I can't wait to see what that mono imaging train paired with the EdgeHD 8 will capture.
