Sometimes you need the rig to hold – a neighbor’s bonfire, a suspicious cloud the safety monitor has not flagged. The phone can pause the NINA sequencer remotely and resume it when you are ready.
How It Works #
Tap pause on the phone; the request travels through the cloud, and the plugin at the observatory holds the sequencer at the next safe opportunity (it finishes the exposure in progress rather than trashing it). The app shows an acknowledgment when the rig confirms the hold, plus a heartbeat so you know the link is alive. Tap resume and imaging continues where it left off.
Good to Know #
- Pause is a hold, not a stop – guiding and equipment stay connected, and Time-Aware playback catches the schedule up after a long hold.
- The command path requires the observatory to have internet; the acknowledgment tells you it actually took effect.
- Safety-critical protection should always remain NINA’s safety monitor – remote pause is a convenience, not a substitute.
