Updates deliver new features and fixes across the desktop app and the NINA plugin together. This page covers the update flow and the one rule that keeps everything in sync.
Updating the Desktop App #
Astro PM checks for new versions and lets you know when one is available. Updating is simply: download the new installer from the download page and run it over your existing install. Your database, projects, and settings are preserved – the app migrates its data automatically on first launch of a new version.
Keep the NINA Plugin on the Same Version #
The desktop app and the NINA plugin are released in lockstep with matching version numbers, because the scheduling engine runs in both places and must produce identical plans. When you update the app, also update the Astro PM plugin from NINA’s plugin manager (NINA highlights available plugin updates). Mismatched versions usually still run, but the nightly plan NINA builds may differ from what the desktop simulator showed.
The Phone App #
The Android app updates through Google Play like any other app. It is tolerant of version differences – it only reads your cloud data – so it does not need to match the desktop version exactly.
Checking Your Versions #
The desktop app shows its version in the title bar / about screen, and NINA lists the plugin version in the plugin manager. When reporting an issue, include both numbers.
